One of the things I like about being a grown up is being able to occasionally go “hey, I want to do X. There’s nothing in the way of me doing X. I shall do X!”
(X in this case is “attend a friends’ housewarming party at short notice, because I have my own transport and my thesis is going sufficiently well”)
