And Then There Was Cake

I had a brilliant time in Cambridge last weekend, seeing lots of friends and dancing and all sorts of general goodness :). And there was cake! C and I made the cake pictured – he baked the cakes and I did all the decorating/icing. We used the BBC Good Food Easy Vanilla Cake, essentially as for the top two tiers of the Simple Elegance Wedding Cake version. Although the top tier was a bit bigger that that version because it’s hard to find 15cm round baking tins!

I transported it in bits and was very, very pleased that it all got there OK and when it was all assembled it looked as I’d imagined it would look :). It’s always lovely when things turn out the way you want them to! Getting it all done was definitely a case of ‘things always take longer than you think they will, even when you think you’ve accounted for that’ – a couple of late nights last week – but it was all worth it in the end 😀
